The checklist
Use this list for any clinic you’re considering — including ours.
| # | What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | A registered veterinarian with a BVC number treats your pet | Only registered vets are trained and legally allowed to diagnose, prescribe and operate |
| 2 | Examination before treatment | Injections and antibiotics “on description” hide problems and cause resistance |
| 3 | Costs explained upfront | No surprises, and you can make informed choices |
| 4 | Vaccines stored in a monitored fridge | Vaccines that get warm during load-shedding silently stop working |
| 5 | In-house tests (blood, parvo, panleukopenia, FIP, FIV/FeLV) | Same-day answers for pets who can’t wait |
| 6 | A dedicated, clean operating room | Sterile surgery and monitored anaesthesia reduce complications |
| 7 | Pain relief before and after procedures | Pets feel pain like we do — good clinics treat it proactively |
| 8 | Emergency contact outside opening hours | Emergencies don’t keep office hours |
| 9 | Clear follow-up — written instructions and someone to ask | Recovery happens at home; you need support there |
How Community Pet Care meets it
- Qualified surgeon: Dr. Farhan Israq holds a DVM, an MS in Surgery from HSTU, completed clinical training in small animal medicine and surgery at Prince of Songkla University in Thailand, and is registered with the Bangladesh Veterinary Council (Reg. 9542). Read his profile.
- Honest advice: reviewers on Google say we “explain things clearly and never push unnecessary treatments”. We’d rather you understand the plan than be sold one.
- Transparent pricing: health check-ups from ৳300; every test and procedure is quoted before we start.
- Proper cold chain for vaccines, and we never hand out vaccines to be injected at home.
- In-house diagnostics for same-day decisions — see diagnostics & lab.
- Dedicated surgery room with monitored anaesthesia — see surgery.
- Open 9 AM–10 PM, 7 days, plus a 24/7 emergency line on 01783-121256.
- Home visits and 24/7 telemedicine for pets who can’t easily travel.
- Community care: we help injured street animals — learn more.
Red flags to watch for
- Treatment or injections given without examining the animal
- Vaccines sold over the counter to inject at home
- No explanation of what a medicine is for
- Pressure to do many tests or treatments without explaining why
- No way to reach anyone if your pet gets worse at night
