The rules behind the dates
This tool follows the WSAVA 2024 vaccination guidelines, adapted for the vaccines actually available in Bangladesh and the local rabies situation, and matches how we vaccinate at Community Pet Care in Rangpur.
Kittens
- Combined “flu” vaccine (panleukopenia + herpesvirus + calicivirus, ± Chlamydia):
- PureVax Feline 4 / RCP from 8 weeks, or Biofel PCH from 12 weeks
- Second dose 3–4 weeks later
- Third dose at 16 weeks recommended for high-risk kittens (rescued, multi-cat homes, outdoor access)
- Rabies: one dose from about 12 weeks
- Boosters: one combined and one rabies vaccine every year
Puppies
- DHPPi(+L): start at 6–8 weeks, repeat every 3–4 weeks until 16 weeks or older
- Rabies: from 12 weeks
- Boosters: DHPPi+L and rabies every year (leptospirosis immunity is short-lived)
Why the last puppy/kitten dose matters most
Mothers pass antibodies to their young through milk. These antibodies protect for the first weeks but also block vaccines — and they fade at different times in different animals, sometimes as late as 16 weeks. That’s why a series of doses is given, and why the final dose should be at 16 weeks or later for high-risk pets.
Adult pets with unknown history
Treat as unvaccinated: two doses of the combined vaccine three to four weeks apart and one rabies dose, then yearly. Select “adult / unknown history” in the tool.
This tool gives a general schedule. Your vet may change timings for a sick, very small, pregnant or high-risk pet.
