The schedule behind the tool
Based on guidance from ESCCAP (European Scientific Counsel Companion Animal Parasites) and CAPC (Companion Animal Parasite Council), adapted to the high parasite pressure in Bangladesh:
| Age | Kittens | Puppies |
|---|---|---|
| Start | 3 weeks | 2 weeks |
| Until 12 weeks | Every 2 weeks | Every 2 weeks |
| 3–6 months | Monthly | Monthly |
| Adult (low risk) | Every 3 months | Every 3 months |
| Adult (high risk) | Monthly | Monthly |
High risk means your pet hunts, goes outside unsupervised, eats raw meat or fish, has had fleas, or lives with young children, elderly or immunocompromised people.
Dose by weight, every time
Kittens and puppies can double their weight in a month. A dose calculated from an old weight is often too low to work. Weigh your pet (or bring them in) before each dose.
Don’t forget fleas
Fleas carry tapeworm. If your pet has fleas, treat the fleas and use a dewormer that covers tapeworm — otherwise the worms come straight back.
A general schedule for healthy pets. Pregnant, nursing, very small or unwell pets need a vet-advised plan.
